George Floyd

We're so sick and tired of opening up our phones, and at least once a week, finding out that another innocent person has been killed in America, because of the color of their skin. And once again, did most of us only find out about this, because a video surfaced the internet. Imagine how many videos we haven’t seen? How many deaths we don’t know about? It’s sickening to think about that. There needs to be a change. Those officers wouldn’t have been so much as *fired* if they weren’t on camera. Most aren’t. Even then getting fired isn't half of what is deserved for murdering an innocent person. HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN UNTIL SOMETHING IS ACTUALLY DONE ABOUT IT? I know there isn't much that I can do about it over here, but just talking about it must help somewhat.

His name is George Floyd, a man who was food shopping and suspected of writing a bad check. An unarmed black man who was killed by the Minneapolis police department in America, 25.05.2020. He was asked to exit his car with his hands up. He complied. George was restrained, IN HANDCUFFS, when one of the police officers, kneeled on his neck. And wouldn’t didn't move his knee, despite George making it clear, that he could not breathe. He did not move that knee for at least seven minutes. He was innocent. He was unarmed. He complied. He was not violent. His last words were: "I can't breathe".

Racist officers need to be scared. They are out there killing black people, never afraid of any administrative or legal consequences- not afraid of the public, not afraid of any social ramifications. They need to at least be feeling social repercussions even if institutional ones are not there. That officer murdered George Floyd in broad daylight, knowing full well that he was being watched and recorded. The fact that he just was so casual with his hand in his pocket as he was killing him is sickening. THAT is how much those officers trust the system to let them get away with murdering black people.

Humans were born equal until some decided to treat others unequally. Racism is no more just a dirty thought, It is now a strong fuel to murder and the creator of fear and injustice. Officers should protect lives not to take away innocent ones. Why is it SO hard for some to understand that just because someone doesn't share the same race as you do NOT make you any superior nor make them any inferior and vice versa. This inequality has been normalized by many for way too long.
